I’m 18! Not only does that mean I’m an adult, but it also means that I’ve been writing these journal entries for two years now, since my 16th birthday! Ever since I decided I was interested in Journalism and writing as a sophomore, I’ve been practicing by writing about my life as much as possible. Now, I’m a senior, and I’ll be going to college to major in journalism so soon. I’m really excited to meet other like-minded people who love story-telling. I’m even hoping to join a few outdoorsy clubs in college to go on many new adventures. That’s why I applied to mostly colleges near the mountains or the ocean. I applied to a couple of beachy Florida schools, but I love traveling. I know I’ll miss my family, but it would be so cool to go live somewhere new and different. I applied, early decision, to the University of Southern California, that’s my top choice. It is so close to the beach and has a great journalism program. I even think I might want to look into broadcasting, instead of being behind the camera. My family thinks I belong on TV with my outgoing personality. We’ll see! If that becomes my passion, I could even move to LA after college! I’m not sure if I would like the feel of the city, but I’ve always loved competition, and that’s the most competitive place for what I’ll be doing. No matter where I decide to live, I don’t see myself settling down to one place anytime soon. Last summer, I lived at my grandparents’ house in Highlands, NC, and worked at a hiking shop. This summer, I’m trying to convince my parents to let me go live in Colorado and work as a guide! Grey is helping me convince them because she wants an excuse to come visit. I’m spending my birthday in my all-time favorite place to adventure, Boca Grande. We’ve never spent Christmas here before, but I’m always the one convincing my family to try new things and go out of their comfort zones. Did I mention I somehow convinced the whole family to go bungee jumping last summer in Arizona?? Even my mom! That’s a story for another entry.
Love,
Blair
